The Walt Disney Co. announced today that they’ve secured the services of writer/director Joss Whedon for the sequel to their monster summer hit, “The Avengers.” The original film soared to record-breaking numbers earlier this year, both domestically and internationally, and there had been some concern that cult-hero Whedon wouldn’t return for chapter two. Fans of the film can now rest easy, as his involvement has now become a sure thing and the film should be on track for a 2015 release. “The Avengers” is now the third highest-grossing film of all time in the United States and worldwide, having made well over $1 billion to date.
