The creation of this site has been in the back of my mind for nearly 10 years now, and I’ve finally decided to make it a reality. Hollywood continues to churn out both breathtaking art and spirit-breaking garbage at a breakneck pace, but the pastime of theater going seems to be fading, year in and year out. My passion for film and the theatrical experience has always been palpable, and in the coming years I hope to be able to share it with as many of you as possible. My hope is that this communal experience known as moviegoing will thrive in the years to come and that Hollywood keeps in mind that people will always respond to great cinema. As far as home theater technology has progressed, bringing everything to us in the comfort of our homes, there’s still nothing like going to the movies. Seeking out great films (and the occasional bad one) is an integral part of the experience.

CINEMIXTAPE.COM will provide the highest quality of film criticism, anchored by our patented (no, not really) dual rating system. Each film will be rated out of 10 (1 meaning “the worst of the worst” and the rare 10 meaning “instant classic”). We will also provide an additional rating conveying what we think the ticket is worth. As ticket prices rise, monetary concerns have become a important part of moviegoing for most audiences. We’ll tell you what we think you should be paying to see the newest releases, from a Tuesday night budget theater special to a Saturday night at your local IMAX – in 3D, of course.

We’ll review anything and everything. From Michael Bay’s latest to the best in independent cinema to Pixar’s most recent success. Adam Sandler? Sure. We’ll be there. Justin Bieber’s latest concert film? Perhaps. “Madea Goes Wakeboarding?” We have to draw the line somewhere.

Thanks for reading and we’ll see you at the movies!
